Firefly's  Oh my goodness this weekend was SO much fun! We went to Lake Mac in NE, outside of Ogalala for the holiday weekend with Adam and Lynne at her little cabin up there and had a blast. and didnt even get too terribly sunburnt. hurrah!I learned to water-ski, and went jet skiing, and tubing and boating. Whew! Then watched fireworks and ate tasty dinners outside under the trees and picnic-ed by the lake for lunches. ah, good times indeed. I've made an appointment to see a new doctor now that I'm living downtown it seems dumb to drive to evergreen to keep seeing my doctor I've had since 1st grade. Besides, my thyroid is starting to become more sluggish and I'm really starting to feel it. My eyebrows are falling out (yikes!) along with sleeping, or wanting to sleep, all the time and weight-gain and all the other nasty little symtoms that go along with it. I dont want to do that horrible horrible diet again although it did clean it out rather nicely. But it made me a mean cranky person. Jerry told me that if I went back on that diet he wouldnt speak to me until I was done. So, not quite the sacrifice I'm willing to take. Anyway, the summer is going by so fast I cant believe its July already! holy cow! Current mood:  crazy.
Just back from KC, seeing Briar and Janelle getting married. It was such a light-hearted ceremony, out by a lake and the reception was in the lodge. It was a picnic dinner and then dancing until 11pm when the park closed and kicked everyone out. After the reception, we went out with Natasha and met up with Pat and hung out at this bar until closing. Natasha knew the DJ and we got him to play all kinds of crazy songs for us. good times! Jerry and I got some pictures taken, but not until after we'd been dancing and so my hair isnt all beautiful and everything like when we started. ah well. The Dress worked out nicely and the hours at the gym clearly paid off. :) I posted pictures on facebook. Jerry's family got into town this evening, their drive went well and they got the end of Jerry's game and then we all headed to dinner. Now we're just laying around recovering from the weekend and lack of sleep on everyone's end. and then, canasta! Current mood:  tired.
oh, I heart Family Guy. :) I've settled into my office and apartment at this point quite nicely. I think I can finally say my apartment is "done" for decorating, as much as someone can say they are finished decorating. I'm pretty sure I bored poor Tara talking about my curtains and the various ways I was thinking of putting them up and which rods I was thinking of using. heh. i blame all the HGTV i watched while unemployed. Now, I'm moving onto Jerry's apartment. His family is coming out this weekend for over a week and will be staying here at his apartment so I'm getting all crazed about having the place look good for them. yikes! But there is nothing I love more than hosting, and the craziness that comes with it. ah, good times! Although I'm glad that I am working while they are here. His family is cool but 11 days is a long time. I dont think I could handle my own family for that long all day. :) Current mood:  creative.
Jerry and I officially have "our song" picked out! Its Sway by Dean Martin. Its a fun song to dance to, and also a song that begs for dancing lessons to properly dance to. :) It was a pretty good weekend, nice and relaxing and productive. Current mood: pleased.
I like my job so far, everyone is really nice and oh yeah working for the government has some excellent perks for sure. AND I have my own office with a door again! I realize this is is ridiculous, but you know how in the movies office have those glass walls in the hallways and when someone wants to talk about something serious, they walk into the office and close their hallway mini-blinds? I have those mini-blinds!! ah! I realize that this sounds kind of crazy, but it makes me smile. lots. :) I have a big wood desk, with a bookcase and a couple filing cabinets. Also two chairs for visitors, natch. Clearly there isnt much in there now, but Kathy and Pat both joked that they would have it filled and piled up with papers no problem. Nice. Everyone there is really nice, and I can totally see myself being there for awhile. I really just want to settle down somewhere and stay in one office for awhile. My apartment is settled, things with Jerry is good and so the only thing I need to settle down is work. ah. Current mood: cheerful.
Finally, after a long, long 8 months of no job, and going on 6 weeks of waiting to hear back from the government re: that job, I have found another job. Its 4 blocks from my apartment, at a law firm downtown. The benefits sound good, the pay isnt what I hoped though so finances will continue to be tight. I wont be able to put as much into savings as I had hoped but at least I have a job now, starting monday. I'm so relieved about this, now its time to look for something part-time to try and make up the difference in money. HURRAH!! Current mood: ecstatic.
So, this week is turning up as I have two interviews for law firms downtown this week. and another positive news (but no interview yet) with an office in the DTC area. Not as ideal, but the pay and benefits are pretty good. so, even if I dont hear from the government re: my background check at least things are starting to turn up finally. Current mood: pleased.
Jerry and I can now cross off another Denver pro-sport that we've seen live. yea! The nuggets game was loads of fun, even if we were waaay upin the nose bleed section. I think that the game is much more fun live than on tv. But then again I feel that way about most sports. I'm the worst person at waiting. I still have a week or so until I start and its driving me nuts! on the plus side, both apartments are very clean and I'm getting some errands done that I wont have time to do while working - such as open a new bank account downtown and finally close my evergreen account. No complaints, except that the only ATMS and branches for that bank are in evergreen. Not very handy for someone who lives and works not in evergreen. Plus, I've had that account since elementary school and its time for change! Anyway, pictures are promised I just cant seem to have my camera and computer in the same room lately. Jerry and I have planned our next big vacation! Its in 2010, and to Brazil! Thats why its a year away, because we both need time to save up for the 9 days there. We are going with a couple friends too, which will make it alot of fun. I'm super stoked! We dont have much trips planned this summer except visiting family and going camping with everyone, and weddings. Current mood: bored.
I'm officially moved in to my new apartment! Everything is unpacked and I will get pictures posted tomorrow once things are hung on the wall. I have a giant window in the living room I'm not sure what to do with, so ideas are welcome. Now, time to grocery shop and buy things I'm missing. yay! Current mood: pleased.
